Redburn Community Church (formerly Cherith Christian Church) was birthed from the teaching ministry of our founder, Keith Gerner, following the Charismatic renewal of the 1970s.
From its origins as a house-church in the centre of Holywood, the assembly is modelled on New Testament Biblical principles with a foundation on: the infallible Word of God; the need for a personal discipleship; the indwelling of the Holy Spirit and a missional vision to shine God’s love where He has placed us.
This enables hope, faith and transformative change in individuals, families and wider community.
In 1999 we joined the Barnabas Fellowship of Churches (BFoC) – an international fellowship comprising assemblies in Ireland, England, France and various African nations – and so our international vision grew, partnering with missions in India, Mexico, China and Israel.
Since 2000 we have been based in Redburn Community Centre, Holywood. As a ‘Community Church’ our desire is to grow together with one-another as a ‘Community of Believers’ – encouraging each other in our faith journey so we can impact those around us with God’s life-changing love as He enables us. We are also a Worshipping community with a desire to give our God our ‘all’ in His service. Furthermore, we believe that Jesus is building His Church and as one of a number of Church congregations in the town, we are committed to working with one-another in the building of God’s Kingdom – outreach, united prayer and sharing of resources.
Finally, we believe in the immanent return of Jesus and that He alone offers hope to a hurting and otherwise hopeless society. Salvation is only in Jesus Name and He alone is the Way, Truth and Life!
